Department of AGADA TANTRA EVUM VYAVAHAR AYURVEDA
Agada Tantra (Toxicology) is one among the Ashtang’s of Ayurveda, which deals with various natural and artificial poisons and along with their antidotes, clinical manifestation, the management of poisoning resulting from animal poisons like snakes bites, insects, spiders, rodents bites etc. It also deals with environmental toxicity, occupational poisoning, food poisoning, and cumulative toxicity.Vyavahar Ayurveda (Medical jurisprudence) deals with medicine in relation to the law, legal aspects of medical ethics and standards. This discipline finds a parallel in the modern discipline of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.
Facility:
Museum at present holds a total of 300 items in the form of charts, Models, Dry and wet mount poisonous specimens, raw drugs etc.
Training of preparation of Agada formulations in departmentlike bilwadi, dooshivishari agada.
Agada Tantra Departmental reference library.
Training in Medical practice related laws, certificates, medical records handling and writing medicolegal reports.
Hospital exposure, Emergency treatment exposure, clinical treatment in skin diseases and other occupational toxicity.
Mission:
To develop Agada tantra department into a centre where traditional VishavaidyaChikitsacould be explored scientifically.
To impart awareness among the general public on – Environmental pollution, cosmetics, pesticides and substance abuse etc.
To establish an exclusive division of dermatology and Cosmetology (Soundarya Chikitsa) on agada tantra line of treatment.
To educate and inspire students to follow ethical clinical practice, train them for medical records, medical legal reporting, various medical certificates, and exposure to medico legal challenges.
