Department of Kayachikitsa (Medicine)

Ayurveda is classified into eight branches, out of which the KAYACHIKITSA bears very important and prominent place. Kaya [body, agni]- Chikitsa [treatment); on entire Ayurvedic therapeutics correction of agni [digestive fire] is basic line of treatment, for most of the diseases. Another unique aspect of kayachikitsa is Rasayana [rejuvenation] and Vajikarna [aphrodisiac]. To follow all these a strict mental discipline and adherence to moral values is required, for the same MANASROGA [mental health issues) is described in it. Both Shamana [pacification] and Shodhana [detoxification) aushadha (medicine) chikitsa is practiced to pacify morbid dosha and expelling accumulated dosha.

Specialities:

  • Clinical exposure for students at OPD level [patient interaction, examination]

  • At IPD level [patientexamination, modern equipment exposure and management/treatment including customized diet for each patient] to develop clinical skills.

  • Emphasize on critical appraisal of medical literature

  • Exposure to acute medical emergencies

  • Collaboration with other specialties within the hospital for comprehensive patient care
