DEPARTMENT OF SHALYA TANTRA
Shalya Tantra is one among the Ashtangas of Ayurveda. It stands as the pioneer in the development of modern surgery. Ayurvedic shalya tantra explains and demonstrates surgical knowledge, priciples and procedures that were performed extensively in ancient India, which are useful even in todays world of modern advanced medical care.
Now the scope of this department has reached into Orthopaedics, General surgical cases, Anorectal disorders and Wound management using surgical and parasurgical techniques.
The main focus of the department is to provide the students with the fundamentals of surgical diseases and surgical principles and to mould them to vibrant and successful practitioners.

Mission:
To create a bunch of undergraduate students well versed in the fundamental concepts of Ayurvedic and modern surgery
To give hands on training to students in essential surgical skills like bandaging, suturing etc
To enable the students to perform parasurgical procedures like Agnikarma, Ksharakarma, Siravyadhaetc independently
To educate and inspire the students to become successful practitioners by holding onto Ayurvedic principles
Vision:
To evolve as a centre of exellence in Shalya Tantra and Modern surgery, both in academic and clinical aspect and to impart authentic ayurvedic knowledge to students with a scientific temperement
