According to Acharya Sushruta, Shalya Tantra is the most appropriate branch of Ayurveda when a condition requires more than conservative or medical management. It is especially indicated in disorders such as Arshas (piles), Bhagandara (fistula-in-ano), Nadivrana (sinus), Arbuda (tumors and cysts), Gandamala (enlarged lymph nodes), Gudabhramsha (rectal prolapse), Ashmari (urinary calculi), Mutravyadhi (urinary tract disorders), and Stanaroga (breast diseases). In such conditions, Shalya Tantra offers faster and more effective relief, particularly where Kayachikitsa alone may be insufficient.
